FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If there's a part of Pigskin Pick 'em you find confusing, it's probably bewildered someone else as well. Following are the questions most commonly asked by our entrants.

Q: How do I change my entry name?
A: You may change your entry name by editing your game settings at two different times while playing the game. The first time is only available once you create your entry for the first time when you are asked to optionally edit your game settings. The second time is only available after you make your selections for the first time. After you submit your selections for the upcoming week you will see a link to edit your game settings from your entry page. From there you may also edit your entry name.

Q: How do I create an entry?
A: From the game's frontpage click on the "create entry" button. You will next be asked to optionally edit your game settings such as entry name, affiliates, and an email reminder service. After you are done editing these options, click the submit button at the bottom. You have now created an entry. From your entry page, you now can make your selections for the upcoming week and create or join a group.

Q: When do game selections lock for the week?
A: Game played on a Sunday or Monday will remain open until the scheduled kickoff of the first game on Sunday (which is usually 1:00 PM ET). However, some weeks will have games being played on a Thursday, Friday and /or a Saturday. For those games, selections will lock for each individual day at the scheduled kickoff of the first game to be played on that day.

Q: When are next week's game selections available?
A: You will be able to select who will win the games for the upcoming week every Tuesday.

Q: How do I join a new group?
A: From your entry page click on "Create or Join a Group" or view the "Group Directory" where you will have the option of joining a public or private group. You may also create a new group if you desire a place for personal friends, family, co-workers, or random football fans like yourself to compete. Note: As the creator of a group you must set the name, motto and the group's parameters.

Q: What is the difference between a spread and non-spread scoring system?
A: The difference within the scoring system lies behind the definition of the "winning pick". In a spread scoring system, the "winning pick" is the team with the higher number of points after the listed "Spread" for that game is subtracted from the number of points the "Favorite" actually scores. In some cases, this will mean that the "winning pick" will not actually be the team that wins the game. In a non-spread scoring system, a "winning pick" is the team which simply scores more points during the game. When you first create your entry in Pigskin Pick'em your entry is automatically set as a non-spread entry. To change this go to the game's Group Directory and either create or join a group playing against the spread.

Q: Why can't I switch from a Spread scoring system to a Non-Spread?
A: Once you accumulate any points in one scoring system you can NOT switch groups that have different scoring systems. For example, if you get points Week 1 while not in a group (non-spread), you can NOT join a spread group before Week 2.

Q: Why can't I add a logo to my group?
A: Your group must be a private group in order to utilize the logo feature.

Q: What is Points Above Average (PAA)?
A: Each group in Pigskin Pick'em is given a PAA value, which displays how above or below average the combined group is against others. Think of PAA in terms of what "par" is in golf. Each Pigskin Pick 'em entry -- that is currently in a group -- is used to determine an average game score by adding all Pigskin Pick 'em points and dividing that sum by the total number of entries. Once this value is determined on a per entry basis, each group member's PAA is added together to determine the group's PAA. This total is display on each group page, as well as in the Group Directory, which can be sorted by "Rank".
